COVID-19 Family visa concessions
As part of the response to COVID19, the Department of Immigration has confirmed certain family visa concessions that will be in effect. Unlike skilled migration, family visas have separate onshore and offshore visa categories that determine where the applicant must be located at the time of decision.
If an offshore application was lodged - applicant must be outside Australia at time of application and time of decision
If an onshore application was lodged - applicant must be in Australia at time of lodgment and time of decision
Partner & Child Visas
As of 27 February 2021, the following offshore visas can be granted while the applicants are in Australia:
Subclass 101 Child Visa
Subclass 102 Adoption Visa
Subclass 445 Dependent Child Visa
Subclass 300 Prospective Marriage Visa
Subclass 309 Partner Visa

Parent Visas
As of 24 March 2021, the following offshore parent visas can be granted while the applicant is in Australia:
Subclass 103 Parent Visa
Subclass 173 Contributory Parent Visa
Subclass 143 Contributory Parent Visa
